We know. You’re a #girlboss. You wake up early, you strut out the door, and you make things happen. Your life moves at a hundred miles an hour and you have no intentions of slowing down. With such a packed schedule, you need things accessible, organized, and most importantly, you need to be ready for anything and everything at a drop of a hat.

We’re with you! To make life a little easier, we’ve taken the liberty of putting together a list (because we know how much you like lists) chock-full of handy convenience. So take a load off your get-down-to-business boots while we break down the ten things all successful women should have in their purse.

Notebook & Pen

A successful woman should always have a pen. How many times have you asked for a pen? Or better yet, how many times has someone asked you for one? You never know when you need to write a phone number, an appointment, or a brilliant idea for your blog down. This brings us to point 1.5—a notebook. We can guarantee that carry around a tiny, cute notebook is significantly better than trying to write down a client’s phone number on the crumpled gum wrapper you found at the bottom of your bag.

Business Cards

Unfortunately, we’re not all psychic. We can’t know who we’re going to meet before the day starts, which is why a successful woman should always carry a few of her business cards. You never know who you could shake hands with today. A great opportunity might come up and just think how prepared you’d look when you whip out your perfectly polished business cards. Remember to keep your cards crisp and clean. Get a business card holder that complements your business and personal style.

Hand Sanitizer

When you have a million and one things to do, you don’t have time to get sick. Carry around a bottle of hand sanitizer to kill germs before they have a chance to pencil their name in that leather bound planner of yours.

Keep a charger of some sort in your purse just in case your phone’s energy doesn’t last as long as yours does.

Makeup & Mirror

You don’t need to lug the entire contents of your makeup collection in your purse, but you should have one or two key cosmetics. A ruby lipstick and lengthening mascara will brighten your face with minimal effort. That brings us to a mirror. Carry around a small mirror so you can touch up your red pout after you demolished that chicken pesto sandwich you’ve been craving all day. While you’re at it, check your teeth in that handy dandy mirror too. Pesto is heaven for the tastebuds, but hell if it gets stuck between your teeth.

Portable Charger

You have a busy day ahead of you. You’re meeting a client at Starbucks at 10, catching up on emails at 11, calling in lunch at 12, and booking that dreamy clubhouse for a company event if it’s the last thing you do. To do all this, you need your phone/computer/iPad/etc fully charged and ready for battle. Keep a charger of some sort in your purse just in case your phone’s energy doesn’t last as long as yours does. If wall plugs and charger cords are too much of a hassle, buy a portable charger to keep your electronics at 100%.

Snack

You’re hammering away on a project because the deadline is coming up soon. All of a sudden, you hear an angry chorus gurgling from the pit of your stomach. You’re starving, but you don’t have time to go out and get lunch. Successful women should always carry a snack in their purse so they don’t have to sacrifice hunger for productivity.

Store some bobby pins in a Tic-Tac container and you’ll be able to keep it together when your hair can’t seem to.

Floss

They say a smile is the shortest distance between two people, but not if you have something stuck in your teeth. A toothy smile with a wedge of lettuce can create an awkward wedge between you and your client. Do yourself a favor and prevent embarrassing encounters from happening by having floss at your fingertips.

Bobby Pins

If you’re not looking, it seems like you can find bobby pins everywhere—in the bathroom sink, between couch cushions, playing hide-and-seek in your shag rug…you get the picture. But as soon as you actually need one of these sweet little babies to come to your rescue, they’re nowhere to be found. Store some bobby pins in a Tic-Tac container and you’ll be able to keep it together when your hair can’t seem to.

Ibuprofen

We can’t tell you how many times having ibuprofen in our bags have helped us—or someone else who needs it. When headaches come a knockin’, you’ll have the tiny remedies to stop them. Advil and Tylenol have small ten tablet to-go tubes ready for purchase, but if you already have a bottle in your medicine cabinet, you can transfer some to an Altoids container to keep in your purse.

Gum/Mints

Successful women know how to reel people in with their sparkling wit and fresh outlook. Make sure to keep your breath minty fresh by having gum, mints, or breath spray ready for action.
