Marketing your blog posts has to be one of the hardest things for creatives, isn’t it? We sit down with all our fiery, creative juices flowing and write AMAZING blog posts. Once we’re finished, we get the “Now what?” syndrome and don’t know what to do with this great body of work we just created.
After hitting ‘publish’ on your blog post, you want to make sure that you connect it to all the right people. People can’t read your posts if they never SEE your posts, right? So, how do you make sure that they see them? You create a marketing strategy! Keep reading as we share our tips for boosting the exposure of each of your blog posts.
5 Ways to Market Your Blog Posts After You Hit ‘Publish’
Utilize Your Social Media Bios
A lot of people think that their followers don’t really pay much attention to their social media bios. In reality, that’s one of the first things people take a peek at before even following you!
People don’t have a lot of time and they don’t have a ton of patience. So, you want to make reading your new blog post as easy as possible for your audience! What better way to do that than to make it readable with just one click?
Bonus tip: Make sure that the link actually works! If you want people to “click the link in your bio” to read your post, you need to actually deliver. If your link leads directly to the post, your audience doesn’t have to worry about going to your website to trying and find the post on their own. Here at Bloguettes, we use Planoly to display our links in our bio and make our feed shoppable. If you’re curious how this works, check out our blog post!
Loop Your Posts on Social Media
You didn’t think sharing that blog post once on Instagram and a couple of times on Twitter would be the “end all, be all,” did you?
The average tweet lasts about 4-6 seconds on your audience’s feed. Yep, you read that right. Although posts have a longer life span on other social media channels like Instagram or Facebook, you still need more than 1-2 days of promotion to really get a boost in readers.
Give your blog post about 5-7 days of consistent promotion on all platforms before considering it an “old post.” After those two weeks are over, add it to your social media queue again for next month! Never stop letting your content circulate (or “loop”) on social!
Share in Your Email Newsletter
Just because someone is on your email list, doesn’t mean they get a chance to catch every single blog post you publish. Chances are, you’re not the only blog they read and definitely not the only email list they’re subscribed to.
So, don’t assume that they’ve heard the news about your new publish – let them know! Not only does this serve as a friendly reminder to revisit your site, but you also get to deliver free value to the people who already love your content!
Also, don’t be afraid to ask them to share with a friend. Most people don’t think about a friend that could really use your information until you ask them if they do! Word-of-mouth advertising is one of the fastest ways to grow your traffic (and it’s free!).
Share in Facebook Groups
Never underestimate the power of a solid Facebook group! In these groups, you’ve got a ton of other creatives just like you waiting to soak up as much free information as possible. Give them the opportunity to indulge in your valuable blog post!
Make sure to read and abide by the rules of each group you decide to share in, though. Also, before posting about your blog post, make sure you’re sharing it in a genuine, organic way. Don’t share it for the sole purpose of having it drive traffic to your site. Facebook groups are all about genuine community. Think about the people your blog post could help and make sure to target them in your promotional post!
Bonus Tip: We have a Facebook group here at Bloguettes, and it’s called the Bloguettes Bulletin Board! It’s the perfect place to connect with like-minded creatives and share what you’ve been working on.
Include a Content Upgrade Incentive
It’s no secret that people love anything that’s free! Even if you’re a rich billionaire, there’s nothing like getting something valuable and still getting to keep your coins in your pocket.
Not only is a free content upgrade (such as a worksheet, workbook, or e-course) irresistible, but it also gives you the chance to show off your expertise and get more people on your mailing list!
If you can’t give value away for free, no one will trust you to give value away in exchange for money. Be of service to your audience by giving them a quick, jam-packed resource to coincide with the blog post in exchange for their email address! Plus, you can market this freebie separate from your blog post so you can drive additional traffic!
In conclusion, you definitely want to share your content on social media, but there are so many other ways to get your traffic BOOMIN’ directly to your blog posts! Try out these quick tips for your next piece of content!
