App Review: Wake N Shake Alarm Clock

Are you a serial snoozer? You know, the kind of person who sets their alarm way earlier than they intend to wake up, only so they can spend the first hour or so of the morning repeatedly hitting the snooze button?

It’s ok. A couple of us in the studio confess to doing the same. However, there’s no denying that we feel more productive, more alert, and generally more ready to kick butt and take names when we get an early start. When Bloguettes Co-Founder, Sakura told us about an alarm clock app that forces you to shake the crap out of your phone before turning off, we decided we all had to give it a try. Scroll down to see how it went. And if you’re interested in trying it out for yourself, you can download the Wake N Shake Alarm Clock for yourself, here.

How important to you is it to get a good night’s sleep? It never used to be important to be until this past year. In college I thought I was invincible and would stay up all hours of the night, getting 4-5 hours of sleep. I wasn’t really paying attention to how it was effecting my mood, my energy, and health. Going to sleep on time isn’t always my favorite choice but I’ve come to terms with the fact that a 7 or 8 hour night of sleep just has to happen!

Would you consider yourself a morning person or a night owl? Night owl!

Do you use the snooze button in the morning (if so, how many times do you hit snooze–be honest)? Of course. Probably about three to six… oops.

How effective was the Wake N Shake app at waking you up?
Literally the worst app ever. In order for the app to work, it has to be running and you have to have it face down. My phone didn’t really make it in the face down position all night… so I never woke up.

Did you notice a difference between being woken up with Wake N Shake and your normal alarm clock? (i.e. waking up immediately versus hitting snooze)
Since the app didn’t work for me in the morning, this question isn’t really applicable. I will say that I was playing around with the app before I went to bed and you have to VIGOROUSLY shake the app in order for the noise to stop, so I imagine that you would definitely notice a difference being woken up with Wake N Shake.

Would you use Wake N Shake again?
I was really frustrated that it didn’t wake me up this morning but I think I’m willing to give it one more chance.

How important to you is it to get a good night’s sleep?  Really important, but the evening is when I get a lot of my personal stuff done so I end up going to bed later than I want to!
Would you consider yourself a morning person or a night owl? Probably a night owl, but I would ideally like to be more of a morning person.
Do you use the snooze button in the morning100 million times.  I set my alarm usually an hour before I HAVE to get up, but I end up hitting snooze that entire hour- it’s awful.

How effective was the Wake N Shake app at waking you up? Super effective.  I set my shake level higher, so it took me awhile to shake it in order for the alarm to go off. I was up an hour early and was at the office earlier too!

Did you notice a difference between being woken up with Wake N Shake and your normal alarm clock? I think the whole “shaking” is really effective.  By the time it hits 100%, I’m fully awake!

Would you use Wake N Shake again? Absolutely!

How important to you is it to get a good night’s sleep?  It’s super important for me to get a good night’s sleep every night. I can’t function if I don’t have a full 8 hours!
Would you consider yourself a morning person or a night owl? I’m definitely a morning person. If the sky’s awake, I’m awake!
Do you use the snooze button in the morningMost mornings I usually only hit snooze once or twice.

How effective was the Wake N Shake app at waking you up? The music that played when the alarm went off scared me! So I guess you could say that it was pretty effective in waking me up.
Did you notice a difference between being woken up with Wake N Shake and your normal alarm clock? It did wake me up faster than my normal alarm, but I’m not sure if I liked the arm workout I got while trying to turn it off.
Would you use Wake N Shake again? Probably not! I’m a fan of the regular alarm that comes on the iPhone so I’ll probably stick to that.

How effective was the Wake N Shake app at waking you up? It was very effective but annoying! Haha!

Did you notice a difference between being woken up with Wake N Shake and your normal alarm clock?  Yes! Its harder to go back to sleep because you had to shake for a while before the alarm stops.

Would you use Wake N Shake again? Yes!
