If you experience all three, then you’ve got it–you’ve got the ‘wanderlust.’ I know this feeling all too well because as an events intern at Bloguettes, I get to research everything we need for our workshops across the country including local coffee shops and the most Instagrammable spots in town! I have found that the best way to satisfy the want to travel by watching travel filled movies! Here are my 5 favorites!

The Best Travel Movies To Spark Wanderlust

Roman Holiday

A true classic! This 1953 film starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck is about a princess who plays hookie for the day and explores the city of Rome! In the process, she falls in love with an American reporter. Follow the characters of Princess Ann and Joe Bradley as they cruise through the city on a moped. This movie is great for all you hopeless romantics out there 😉

P.S. I Love You

Get ready, this is a tear jerker. A young widow discovers that her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life. These messages take her back to Ireland where they met and on the adventure of a lifetime, teaching her she can live her life without him. The breathtaking landscapes and lively pubs will have you planning an Irish getaway ASAP.

Mamma Mia!

Starring Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep, this movie-musical tells the story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father all while singing hit songs by the popular 70s group ABBA. Set and filmed in Greece, you can’t help but fall in love as the characters dance around the whitewashed homes and clear blue water! This film launched my need to visit the Greek islands and let me tell you, if you think it’s beautiful in the movie, wait until you see it person!

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Four best girlfriends hatch a plan to stay connected with one another as their lives start off in different directions. This plan includes a pair of secondhand jeans (that manages to fit each of their bodies perfectly) that they send to each other from around the globe. The jeans travel across the US, overseas to Greece (my favorite!), and even down to Cabo San Lucas! You will feel just as well-traveled as the pants after this movie.

Catch Me If You Can

Ever feel the need to run away? In this true story starring the amazing Leonardo DiCaprio, we follow Frank Abagnale Jr. who, before his 19th birthday, successfully runs away from home and cons millions of dollars’ worth of checks as a Pan Am pilot, practicing doctor, and legal prosecutor. As a pilot, we follow Frank as he bounces across the country from New York to Los Angeles to Louisiana and even over to France!

Each of these are perfect for long flights or rainy afternoons at home. I hope they spark a sense of wanderlust in you just as they have in me!
