Not long ago, Pinterest removed affiliate links from all pins, and a lot of bloggers were less-than-happy about it. Big name bloggers were making LOTS of money using affiliate links, and there’s no doubt that propagating the links via Pinterest played a large role. People surmised that it had something to do with Pinterest wanting a piece of the action.
Well it seems that those people were right. At the end of the month, Pinterest will be rolling out Buyable Pins for iPad and iPhone users (Buyable Pins for Android are rumored to follow not far behind). Now, pinners will be able to enter their payment information, save it within the app, and make purchases within Pinterest by simply tapping a blue button.
So far Buyable Pins are compatible with e-commerce platforms Shopify and Demandware. Pinterest will also be working with retailers like Macy’s, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus.
