Starting and growing your business from 0 isn’t an easy task, especially right now when the market is oversaturated with different products and services. How to stand out and be unique? How to attract the right customers? These are the questions that we all ask ourselves all the time because answers are so hard to find.
There’re so many articles and ideas on how to grow your business and they all seem to agree on the same point that you have to determine your own voice, be authentic and create a unique strategy that would suit your business. They all seem so encouraging and easy to follow at first sight but what if you don’t know where to start or how to get your creative juices flowing?
Making lists and taking hundreds of notes may not be efficient because you can just lose yourself in words and never understand the meaning behind them (let’s be honest, sometimes we go too far with it and have to actually make lists to make lists, am I right?). Creating a graphic picture of the information is a much better approach to portray and structure your thoughts. These where Mind Maps could come in handy.
What is Mind Map?
If you haven’t heard about Mind Maps (first of all, where have you been, girl?), then you’ve definitely missed out. Mind Map – is a really effective visualization tool that lets you capture your plans and ideas on paper (or on your computer, if you prefer to use apps, which we’re going to talk about later in this article). It doesn’t only help you clear up your thoughts and find what you true focus in life is, but also can help grow your business.
Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been on this entrepreneur journey for a while, mind maps will definitely help you understand the core of your business and help you grow much easier and who doesn’t want it?
How to Create a Mind Map
Now, let’s jump right into the creative process and get things going. The best way to start your Mind Map is to focus on the concept/subject that is placed at the centre of the page. Think about the question that you want to find the answer to right now. It could be, “How to create a blog/website?” or “How to develop a social media strategy?” and so on.
If we’re taking the latest example, then the next step would be to think about related topics that you need to research on, e.g. Content Creation, Measurements, Target Audience and other. After you’ve mapped out your main topics, it’s time to elaborate on each of them. Taking, “Content creation”, as an example of one of the sub-topics, you can further think about the type of content that you want to do, such as Video, Blog posts, Audio and so on and then go deeper into the description of each.
The best part here is that you can be as detailed as you want and have many layers for each subject. The whole creation process is in your hands. The more ideas and thoughts you would put on a page or computer screen the better you’ll understand your business problems.
How a Mind Map Can Help You Grow Your Business
There’re so many ways in which you can use Mind Maps to help you grow your business. These are only some of the topics with examples of maps that you can use to help you visualize your ideas and get a clear focus on what your plans and goals are.
Blog Post Ideas
Coming up with Blog Post ideas on a weekly basis could be overwhelming, mapping out your thoughts could really help you in the future to think less about this problem.
Marketing Campaign Planning
The launch of a new product, seasonal sales or other marketing campaigns require a lot of work to be done in advance. Having a visual plan could help you have a clear mind and be sure that you’re doing everything on time.
Marketing Persona Development
Identifying your target audience has never been easy; especially with the appearance of so many new categories like Gen Y and Z on the market, you can get completely lost.
