DSLR Lenses We Love

Smartphones have seriously stepped up their camera game. While you can get good quality images using your phone, nothing beats a good old-fashioned DSLR camera.

DSLR, aka Digital Single Lens Reflex, contain large image sensors that produce high-quality photos using interchangeable lenses. With a DSLR camera, you can get super high quality photos, switch out lenses to modify shooting options and take pictures in RAW format making it easier to edit photos later on.

There are plenty of lens options out there. In fact, there are so many, the elimination process of choosing one is daunting enough to make you sweat out your perfectly coiffed hairdo.

Depending on what goal you want to achieve, there are different lenses to fit each of your needs.

While camera and lens kits are available for a fair priced bundle package, we’d like to suggest some other options first. While buying a camera and lens kit is convenient, sometimes the lens provided may not be of the highest quality available. One option is to buy a camera body and a separate lens depending on the kind of photography you want to tackle.

We’ve composed a list of DSLR lenses to use for different shooting situations. Remember, these are only a few options out of the hundreds available! Do your research and make sure your lens is compatible with your camera and the shooting situations you want to accomplish.

Standard Lenses

Standard lenses are usually from 35-55mm. These lenses are good for the casual hobbyist photographer, general use and portraits.

Canon 50mm Lens

Nikon 50mm Lens

Telephoto Zoom Lenses

These lenses are for shooting objects that are far away. Standard kit lenses usually have a 18-55mm zoom, but there are other lenses with a broader range of zoom capabilities. The greater the zoom range, the higher the lens price may be.

Canon 75-300mm Telephoto Lens

Sony 55-200mm Zoom Lens

Wide Angle Lenses

Wide angle lenses are good for landscape photography. The lens is able to capture more of the foreground and background with minimum distortion.

Sigma 10-20mm Wide Angle Lens

Smartphone Lenses

One of the lenses we use at Bloguettes isn’t for a DSLR, but for mobile devices! The Sony Qx10 lens is an attachable lens for your smartphone. It can take high quality photos and you can easily maneuver the lens around while seeing the image on your phone screen.
