Guys…it happened. It FINALLY happened!
The new iOS 9.1 update came out last week and with it came BRAND NEW EMOJIS!
Like most people, we’ve been huge fans of emojis since the beginning. But we also wondered how much better it would be with even more options (*cough cough* where art thou, taco?!). Apple has finally answered all our prayers and has granted us the taco emoji!
In addition to the almighty taco, the new update brought us burritos, nerds, emojis with jazz hands, and various hand gestures including the rock symbol and of course, the uber ladylike middle finger. We know we can’t go over all of the newest emojis additions (there were over 150), so we’ll point out some of our favorites and when to these bad boys to use:
The eye rolling emoji: when you turn 25 and Mother starts asking you for grandchildren
The cheese: because the wine emoji gets lonely sometimes
The taco: because #tacotuesday captions on Insta are never complete without a miniature digital taco (the burrito emoji is also acceptable)
The zipper mouth face: when your friend texts you and says, “I need to tell you something, but you can’t tell ANYONE.”
The sunglasses: when you need to throw some serious shade
The bandaged head: when you drop your phone on your face while scrolling in bed (who hasn’t this happened to, am I right?)
The jazz hands face: for when you’re too excited and you just can’t
The money mouth face: when you feel like a baller after winning $1 doing one of those scratchers at the gas station
The writing hand: because the pen is always mightier than the sword
The thinking really hard face: when your friend asks you what you’re going to be for Halloween
The live long and prosper hand: for all you Star Trek junkies
The middle finger: when you’re in one of those moods, on one of those days
The spy/sleuth: when your bff tells you she’s talking to a new guy and you’re 2 seconds away from going into ‘super stalker mode’
The bottle with popping cork: when you’re popping bottles at the club on a Tuesday
As with all changes, there have been some setbacks. We’re not sure if this is true for everyone, but there have been rumors that the new update can potentially turn off all your alarms causing some serious scrambling in the AM (and some hardcore usage of the middle finger emoji).
Let us know if the rumor is true or not! And for all your emoji lovers out there, which new members of the cast are your favorite? Drop us a comment below!
