Here at Bloguettes, we’re always creating content and sharing our recommendations, whether it be for products or helpful softwares to take your online presence to the next level! So, when we heard about Kit.com, which claims to make you money by recommending the things you love, we were all in!
Kit is a community to discover, discuss, and find products grouped into kits for fun activities like DJing, cooking, cycling, and more! The creators of Kit were inspired by other sites that aggregate content for their users to find the best products out there for what they need. They wanted to establish a community that aids in learning and helps discover the products users need for the activities that enrich their lives!
So, we thought we’d give Kit a try. Not only because we love some online shopping, but also because Kit.com could actually make us money!
How Kit Works:
First things first, you have to create an account which is super easy. You can choose to make an account with your information from a Facebook or Twitter account or your email.
Once you sign in, curating your own kit is very simple and self-explanatory.
Once you give your kit a title and a description with a #hashtag (this ensures your kit will be seen by other users), you are good to go and search for products to add!
You can search from any number of items from photography, beauty products, interior design, and more! It’s recommended to have at least six items in your kit, but they can vary in size.
Once your kit is finished up, all that’s left to do is share! (This is where the money making comes into play…)
Kit.com gives you a link to share on your social media or by email to reach out to as many of your followers or “fans” as possible because, the more people buy products from your link, the more money goes into your pocket!
Kit uses affiliate links to other sites like Amazon and lets the creator of the kits to get 100% of the earnings from people who purchase the products through their Kit.com link. Amazing!
Now, before we go any further, let’s talk a little about affiliate marketing. When a brand partners up with an influencer to promote their products or services, the influencer receives a cut of the sales. So for example, if you’re an Amazon affiliate, you receive a cut of the sales when you promote Amazon products, such as through a banner ad on your site or on your social media. So where does Kit play into all of this? When you promote your kits, essentially you’re promoting several products at once that all have affiliate links. So handy!
With all of this in mind, we decided to make three different kits of our own to try it out! Here’s what we came up with:
Karlie, our office videographer gave us a list of her favorite equipment to use when producing videos for our YouTube Channel!
We took the time to curate a kit that is perfect for bloggers just trying to get their site off the ground, or for someone who is shopping for the new blogger in their life.
Our favorite photag in the office, Taylor gave us her list of go-tos for all of our Stock That Rocks shoots!
Now that you’ve seen what the final product looks like, here are some other tips to keep in mind when creating your kits:
It’s good to make different kits for different levels of expertise. Let’s say you’re a professional photographer, you probably started with a much simpler and smaller kit than what you use today.
Be sure to add a custom image to your kit profile and to each one of your kits as a way to show off your personal brand.
Edit your profile to add a profile image, add a bio, and to drop in your own Amazon Affiliate ID and more!
Finally, before you go, you might be wondering where to show off your Kits! Here are our recommendations:
Write blog posts centered around the items in your Kit. For example, if you have a photography Kit, you can embed it in blog posts about DSLR tips, what to look for when buying a camera, affordable cameras for creatives, and more…the possibilities are endless!
Post about your Kits on social media and embed Kit links in your Instagram bio every now and then! This way, your followers can keep up with what you’re currently loving!
Create a banner ad on your site that promotes your Kit! Visitors can easily click on the ad and be directed to your Kit. Who knows, they might even browse other Kits you have on your profile!
Promote your Kits on Pinterest! Pinterest is a huge traffic driver, so by creating visually appealing pins that show off your kits and link to them, you can get your Kits seen by new audiences!
