Calling all Austinites! Whether you’re an Austin native or are traveling there soon like we are for our upcoming Austin 3-Day Branding Workshop, this city guide is for you! We’ve put together a list of the most ‘grammable places in Austin, so your Instagram feed can be on point as you explore the city.
Read along as Natalie Paramore, Austin food & travel blogger, and Hannah Koehler, Austin based freelance photographer, share their recommendations for restaurants, coffee shops and cafés, shopping and exploring, sweet treats, and gorgeous sights to see in the beautiful city!
For the Foodies: Restaurants
Grizzelda’s: According to Natalie, this east side restaurant brings the flair of Mexico City right to Austin! Pretty pink touches, some stellar wallpaper and a chandelier that’ll make your jaw drop are just a few of the reason you need to get over to Grizzelda’s ASAP. Oh, and the drinks, bubbles and appetizers will have you pulling up a chair to stay awhile.
Counter Culture: If you’re on the hunt for vegan comfort food, we’ve got you! Counter Culture serves internationally inspired meatless, dairy-free and raw foods, all made from scratch! Its lively atmosphere also makes it the perfect photo op! It’s no wonder Hannah considers this one of her go-to restaurants.
Tacodeli: You can’t visit Austin without indulging in some good ol’ breakfast tacos! There are so many great options, but Tacodeli is Natalie’s personal favorite. You can grab their tacos all around town, but their 42nd Street location is filled with sunshine and colorful tables that make ‘gramming those tacos a breeze. If you like spice, try their famous Doña sauce!
Veracruz Tacos: While we’re on the topic of tacos, you can also find authentic Mexican food at Veracruz Tacos! With its 3 different locations around Austin, you’re bound to come across one! If you’re a taco lover at heart, this place is for you. Plus, their cute food trucks are totally Instagram-worthy!
Ramen Tatsu-ya: I like bowls and I cannot lie! Ramen Tatsu-ya has some of Natalie’s favorite ramen in the world (no seriously), and one photo of those steamy noodles will have you trying to jump through your screen to eat some! Those perfect ajitama and the soft boiled eggs make for an extra likable photo IMO.
Perla’s: This adorable seafood and beer bar has us going gaga! With its amazing fresh seafood and coastal vibes, you’ll have to snap a pic to document you were there!
The Soup Peddler: Looking for the perfect smoothie pic to add to your grid? Check out one of Hannah’s picks, The Soup Peddler! With fresh juices and smoothies, handmade soups, salads, and pressed sandwiches, you’re sure to leave with the perfect ‘gram.
Coffee Shops & Cafés
June’s All Day: This all-day café serves up top-notch wine from Master Sommelier June Rodil. Natalie loves this South Congress spot because it has just a little of a Saved by The Bell feel with the juke box and neon-streaked ceiling. Not to mention the wine, chicken sandwich and oh, those cookies!
Elizabeth Street Café: This café is bursting with a pastel color palette and bowls of delicious noodles. According to Natalie, it’s the perfect place to grab breakfast or a coffee (the iced Vietnamese is her favorite!) or lunch, dinner or brunch. Elizabeth Street Café has a breezy patio and a light-filled dining room that make capturing that ‘gram child’s play.
Sister Coffee: Sister Coffee is a space where art, ideas and community are fueled by coffee and conversation. If you’re ever on the hunt for a place to find creative inspiration, this is the place to be according to Hannah! This showroom for ceramic works and local artists is also the perfect place to snap a pic for your grid.
Shopping & Exploring
Friends & Neighbors: This adorable bungalow brings together fashion, food, art, design, and music all under one roof! Here, you’ll find vintage treasures, taste amazing coffee and meet new friends. You won’t be able to leave without taking a picture of the store’s charming aesthetic!
Farewell Bookstore: Bookworms, unite! Farewell Books is a progressive new and used bookshop and art gallery in the city of Austin. This bookstore’s unique atmosphere will leave you feeling inspired, and you won’t be able to leave without taking a picture or two!
Mana Culture: Who doesn’t love looking at pretty jewelry? If you’re wanting to spice up your wardrobe with some boho chic accessories, be sure to check out Mana Culture in Austin. Plus, their Instashop makes it easy to shop their looks and get some style inspo!
Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop: This cute bakeshop is famous for keeping Austin sweet! Its down home southern style dessert will satisfy any sweet tooth as well as Instagrammers on the hunt for cute desserts!
