Meet Kian, the newest member of the Bloguettes team! She was an intern in 2015, and is now our Marketing Assistant! You’ve probably seen her on our Insta Stories, and on a day-to-day basis, you can find her crafting captions, brainstorming ad content, or planning the next video for our YouTube channel. Get to know Kian in her Q&A below!
What is your favorite part about working at Bloguettes?
My favorite thing about working at Bloguettes is definitely the environment! The office space is amazing, I am constantly surrounded by creative people who inspire me, and there is always something going on. Being able to attend team events, photoshoots, and workshops makes all the difference! You are constantly engaging in new & exciting things instead of participating in that typical 9-5 routine.
Tell us a little bit about what you do day-to-day as our Marketing Assistant!
My routine revolves around what we are working on each week! Two things that are consistent are posting on all of our social media channels + creating content for our Instagram story. Throughout the day I’ll be assigned new projects such as email marketing, planning social media strategies, and ad creation!
Name 3 skills you need to be successful in your job position.
I think the most important skill you need to be successful in this position is creativity. Marketing requires tons of brainstorming & creating new content so being able to think up new original ideas is a MUST!
The next skill you need is the ability to prioritize— which I will admit I am still perfecting. While I am here I’d like to note that I am thankful for autocorrect, because I have spelled all of these words wrong (must be a fluke).
The last skill that supplements a career in marketing is organization! You need to get that agenda in check and your google calendar on fleek (I did not just say that).
Finish this sentence: The motto of my life is….
YOLO (haha, just kidding) I would say my life motto is to take risks, go after what you want + make it happen!
“The day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom”
What do you like to do in your free time?
Casual murders would take the cake for my favorite pastime (jokes). I love being creative in my freetime: photography, videography, and learning new skills takes up most of my days. I am constantly brainstorming or filming new videos for my YouTube channel. I also have come to realize I may have an addiction to listening to self-help books on Audible. Besides all that jazz I do enjoy being active, lifting weights, and boxing!
When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was younger I actually wanted to be a hairstylist or a permanent caretaker for my Build-A-Bear (hairstylist seemed more realistic at the time)! I would set up a station in my living room, have my parents look through magazines and pick which hairstyle they wanted, then proceed to simply brush their hair. Obviously, after all this hard work I expected them to pay me— starting a business was clearly in my destiny.
What are your top 3 tips for crafting the perfect social media post?
I think the perfect social media starts with the visuals! Having a unique high quality image that fits with your brand is key— or post a photo of an avocado w/ a pun (that was very high-performing).
The next tip I have is to incorporate your personality or in my case a little bit of sarcasm + wittiness. People can’t see how amazing you are through a flat lay of your breakfast; it is often someone’s caption that draws me in.
Was that 3? I feel like I have been talking forever. Just counted and I am still at 2… last tip is to post at the right time and engage your audience!
