Everyone meet Rachel! We love having her in the office because of her genuine personality and willingness to help. Rachel is on our social media and spends her time perfecting our Pinterest and adding outfits to Tagspire. She is a perfect combination of brains and spunk, pursuing a degree in Biological Sciences. The highlight of her summer was traveling to Belize in Central America!
Where are you from and what brought you to Arizona?
I am Phoenix bred! I’ve been here all of my life.
What is/was your major in college and why?
I’m studying biological sciences at Arizona State! I’ll also probably end up with a minor in business because I switched over from business, so I have a ton of classes in that area already! Education is one of my highest values, so I wanted to do something versatile and worthwhile. If I could do it all – I would! I chose biology because I love it, but I also am very creative, so whatever I do, I will have a balance between both passions of mine.
If you weren’t living in Arizona, where would you like to live?
I’m totally a city girl, so at some point in my life I want to live in Portland, New York, Seattle or Los Angeles. I’m pretty set on Portland though; I love that you can be in the forest without driving more than an hour!
What’s your favorite tradition?
My favorite tradition is Thanksgiving because I’m such a foodie and my family goes all out for Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is also just one of those things that brings everyone in the country together for such a good purpose. Plus autumn is the best time of year!
Describe your dream job.
The most important thing in a career, in my opinion, is doing something that you are absolutely passionate about! For me, that is a field that will foster creativity and something that I can do to make a difference in people’s lives. I definitely want to have a blog and/or business of my own, but I also would like to do something in the medical field. Like I said – I want to do it all and then some! At this point, I’m just going wherever life takes me.
What do you love best about working for Bloguettes?
I love everything about working for Bloguettes and I pretty much can’t imagine my life without the days in the office. First and foremost, I love the women of the company, they are such inspirational people, so genuine + have so much to offer! Like I said, I love being at the office. My major is a really difficult and time-consuming one, so I appreciate the days that I get to be here. The office is such a bright and crisp space and there’s always great music. My work here is stimulating too because I get to use my creative side and I’m always challenged to learn new skills.
Which types of blogs do you like best, and who are your favorite bloggers?
My favorite types of blogs are fashion and lifestyle blogs! I love Sugar & Cloth and Design Love Fest. Again, I love all lifestyle blogs but I’ve been all about Claire Marshalle and her blog www.heyclaire.com.
What do you like to do in your free time?
The little free time that I do get outside of school, my internship, and work, my favorite things are blogging, exercising, reading, Pinteresting, traveling + hanging out with friends! I’m a total coffee addict, so one of my favorite things to do is go hang out at coffee shops.
Describe your personal style.
My style is pretty much super minimal + simple. I always like to have fun with my accessories or throw a plaid flannel/chambray shirt around my waste, mostly because I freeze whenever I go inside, but also to add a little something.
What’s your favorite social media channel and why?
I’m so addicted to social media in general, but I would probably say that Instagram and Pinterest are my favorites. I am such a visual person, so these are naturally super appealing to me, plus you can basically travel the world via hashtags on Instagram.
At which store would you like to max-out your credit card?
Nordstrom all the way! I love Nordstrom. There isn’t anything that you can’t get there.
How has being part of the Bloguettes team influenced you and your career path?
I’ve always wanted to go into something creative and Bloguettes has definitely helped me realize that it is possible and has reassured me in so many ways onto that path. I’ve had such an awesome experience here including learning and networking, so it has really solidified some things for me and made my time spent in school worth that much more to me!
