We all know Pinterest is the go-to app for fashion inspiration, with maybe just a dash of great food recipes. Whether you search for “cozy chic” or “simple summer” outfits, this new feature is for you! In Pinterest’s new partnership with ShopStyle Collective, Pinterest now enables users to take the inspiration one step further, and actually purchase the exact clothing pieces seen in the pin. The best part? It also applies to home decor and interior design pins.
The new feature will look a little something like this:
How Does It Work?
As seen above in ShopStyle’s example image, any pin with blue dots placed over an item is a “Shop the Look” enabled pin. So, should you see a shirt that you absolutely cannot resist, simply tap the circle on the item to find and purchase the product! It’s that easy… and dangerous for your credit card. Shop responsibly everyone!
Here’s the breakdown of how to use this new feature:
Click on a blue dot- you’ll be taken to the items on ShopStyle. Every piece tagged within that pin will be displayed.
Click on the products directly below the look- you’ll be taken to a Pin of the product, where you then click to be directly transferred to that item on the original retailer’s site.
Rock your new look!
What if I’m the one creating the pinned looks?
Don’t worry, this update isn’t going to steal your fashionista thunder. In fact, it’s going to make it louder. The looks you create in ShopStyle Collective, as well as items tagged in looks and personal affiliate links should get incorporated into Pinterest as a “Shop the Look” pin automatically. This means your views increase, which in turn boosts your clicks, which then increases revenue potential. This update can literally make you gain followers AND a little cash. Thank you ShopStyle!
So influencers, here’s how to get started:
Set up an Instagram Shop for your blog using ShopStyle’s Looks & Collections tool
Create looks daily to have the highest chance to get syndicated to Pinterest
Ensure sure you tag products from the retailers in your looks. You can tag up to 200!
Currently, the list of vendors who will work properly with this new feature is small, but Pinterest is working hard to grow that list ASAP. Here are the brands: Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Saks Off 5th, Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor, Target, J.Crew & Free People.
Pinterest’s new partnership with ShopStyle is a great way to boost your brand, expose yourself to new viewers, grow your business, and even monetize your inspiring looks. We can’t wait to try it out!
