Yep, we took the Bloguettes Two-Day Branding Workshop to the beach! Ok, so we weren’t actually AT the beach, and if we’re being completely honest there weren’t many ocean views to be had. But hey, we were workshopping, people! And with a really fun group of students! It felt like we were hanging out with old friends all weekend (seriously, you could’ve put us all in a cardboard box and we would’ve been happy). But lucky for us we didn’t have to host the class in a cardboard box. Quite the opposite, really. Green Acre Campus Pointe in La Jolla made for the perfect place to host our workshop. Take a look!
We started the day with giant donuts from Donut Bar. When we went to pick them up the morning of the workshop, there was a line down the street!
In addition to the typical lessons taught during the workshop (graphic design, social media, the business of blogging, branding and photography), we also had two amazing guest speakers stop by and lay down some serious knowledge. Ali from Be Social Public Relations answered questions on how bloggers and brands work together, and how those relationships come to be, as well as explaining how PR works for bloggers. The following day, Jordan from Miss American Made shared her experiences on starting two websites from the ground up, and how she leveraged Twitter to build relationships and gain readership.
Green Acre also provided us with lunch for both days. Their setup is really cool–they’ve got meeting space upstairs, and a restaurant downstairs, which serves some really delicious and totally Instagram-worthy food.
Pressed Juicery provided each of our participants with green juice, which made for the perfect afternoon pick-me-up!
One of our students, Melissa, owns her own card business called Corazones de Papel, and created these cute cards just for us! We loved getting them, and loved San Diego too!
